Congratulations to Andrew Swann on winning Maziak’s ‘Biggest Loser Challenge’ 2017.
Andrew lost a total of ‘1st 8lbs’, 9% body weight, during the 8 week period. 16 staff had signed up and paid an entree fee to an 8 week programme in the hope of being crowned ‘Maziak’s Biggest Loser’ in terms of percentage weight loss.
With entry fees and donations for the ‘Biggest Loser Challenge’ a total of £668.20 was raised and will be donated to our charity partner Lakelands Day Care Hospice in Corby.
Some of the Maziak team swopped their business attire for their gym outfits to take part in a lunchtime circuit workout in sunshine. Dwayne Paul of Limitless Training Club, Kettering, gave up his time to get a variety of fitness abilities and ages working up a sweat. This was all part of Maziak’s Biggest Loser Initiative in support of Lakelands Hospice, our charity partner for 2017.... Check out the highlights video here: https://youtu.be/Jmh1TG1plcs
Some of us have been so inspired that don't be surprised if this becomes a regular event.
We have launched an internal initiative modelled on the TV Show ‘Biggest Loser’. 16 staff have signed up and paid an entree fee to an 8 week programme in the hope of being crowned ‘Maziak’s Biggest Loser’ in terms of percentage weight loss. All proceeds would go to our charity partner Lakelands Day Care Hospice.

Friday 10th February 2017: Maziak Compressor Services of Wellingborough is delighted to announce its first ever charity partner - Lakelands Day Care Hospice, in Corby.
Following staff nominations, shortlisting and a staff vote on 16th December, Lakelands Hospice was a clear winner with over 80% of the Maziak team giving it their vote.
Paul Marlow, Fundraising Manager at Lakelands Day Care Hospice responded to the news with delight: “That’s fantastic news, thank you so much. I can’t tell you how excited we are to be working with Maziak’s team in 2017.”
Lakelands Hospice is an independent charity supporting a 20 mile radius around Corby, committed to delivering the best possible practice and development of specialist palliative care for people with cancer, heart failure and other life-limiting illnesses. They honour people's right to dignity and respect during all stages of their illness, by improving the quality of life of all hospice attendees and their families.
Lakelands is entirely funded by community support and as a local business Maziak is keen to make a positive contribution to local society and the communities it operates in. Emma Maziak, Marketing Director at Maziak commented: “We are a pretty lovely bunch at Maziak when it comes to loving and giving and supporting good causes. We wanted to identify a local charity that we can partner with to give a real focus to our efforts and to pool our goodwill.”
Mazak’s plan is for its staff to raise funds by participating in and supporting Lakelands Day Care Hospice’s comprehensive programme of events and to supplement with initiatives of its own. Maziak have already launched an internal initiative modelled on the TV Show ‘Biggest Loser’. Interested staff have signed up to an 8 week programme in the hope of being crowned ‘Maziak’s Biggest Loser’ in terms of percentage weight loss.
Emma Maziak added: “Lakelands get no NHS or Lottery Funding and not only do they do a brilliant job at the Day Hospice but their Hospice At Home Service really made an impression on me. As well as generating funds, our Biggest Loser competition will foster a healthy start to 2017 and create a cheerfully competitive buzz within the office.”
Over the coming weeks, Maziak staff will be visiting the Day Hospice facility to get a real sense of how funds raised will make a difference. At the same time the calendar of activities for fundraising is being finalised and the target for the year will then be announced to give the partnership real focus.
