3 Peaks Challenge for Lakelands

Maziak's very own Daniel Burton and his wife Samantha took on the huge challenge of climbing the 3 Peaks in 24hrs at the weekend. This was to raise much needed funds for our charity partner Lakelands Hospice in Corby.

Ben Nevis –  6hrs 5 mins!

Scafell Pike –  4hrs 32mins

Snowdon - 🙁 Aborted due to bad weather.

“The weather turned extremely gusty, and given the lack of experience within the group, the darkness, and our state of fatigue from the other climbs, our guide decided to call off the climb as it was simply too dangerous. Tough decision, but the right one. Better to leave on a positive note after making the right decision, than leave on a negative note after making the wrong decision” – Dan Burton

So far these guys have raised a fantastic £1231.25 with more yet to come in!

You can still donate here:

Support our Skydivers

Here is some footage of one of our brave skydivers... enjoy & donate!!!

In 2017 Maziak are channelling all of our fundraising efforts to a fantastic cause in our local community - Lakelands Day Care Hospice.

We've already raised nearly £700 towards our annual target of £5k through our Biggest Loser weight loss challenge earlier in the year.

Now we're going all adrenalin junkie!!

2 of us have decided what better way to raise some money than jumping out of a plane! Strapped to a qualified instructor, we will jump from over 10,000 feet and travel at up to 140mph before the instructor opens our parachute at around 5,000 feet for a safe landing.

We would be so grateful if you could sponsor our dive. Which is taking place on Sunday 13th August, in Peterborough.

Train with Dwayne

Some of the Maziak team swopped their business attire for their gym outfits to take part in a lunchtime circuit workout in sunshine. Dwayne Paul of Limitless Training Club, Kettering, gave up his time to get a variety of fitness abilities and ages working up a sweat. This was all part of Maziak’s Biggest Loser Initiative in support of Lakelands Hospice, our charity partner for 2017.... Check out the highlights video here:

Some of us have been so inspired that don't be surprised if this becomes a regular event.

Maziak Staff Vote for Lakelands Day Hospice As Their Charity of The Year - Loving & Giving in Support of the Local Community

Friday 10th February 2017:  Maziak Compressor Services of Wellingborough is delighted to announce its first ever charity partner - Lakelands Day Care Hospice, in Corby.

Following staff nominations, shortlisting and a staff vote on 16th December, Lakelands Hospice was a clear winner with over 80% of the Maziak team giving it their vote.

Paul Marlow, Fundraising Manager at Lakelands Day Care Hospice responded to the news with delight: That’s fantastic news, thank you so much. I can’t tell you how excited we are to be working with Maziak’s team in 2017.”

Lakelands Hospice is an independent charity supporting a 20 mile radius around Corby, committed to delivering the best possible practice and development of specialist palliative care for people with cancer, heart failure and other life-limiting illnesses. They honour people's right to dignity and respect during all stages of their illness, by improving the quality of life of all hospice attendees and their families.

Lakelands is entirely funded by community support and as a local business Maziak is keen to make a positive contribution to local society and the communities it operates in.  Emma Maziak, Marketing Director at Maziak commented: “We are a pretty lovely bunch at Maziak when it comes to loving and giving and supporting good causes. We wanted to identify a local charity that we can partner with to give a real focus to our efforts and to pool our goodwill.”

Mazak’s plan is for its staff to raise funds by participating in and supporting Lakelands Day Care Hospice’s comprehensive programme of events and to supplement with initiatives of its own. Maziak have already launched an internal initiative modelled on the TV Show ‘Biggest Loser’.  Interested staff have signed up to an 8 week programme in the hope of being crowned ‘Maziak’s Biggest Loser’ in terms of percentage weight loss.

Emma Maziak added: “Lakelands get no NHS or Lottery Funding and not only do they do a brilliant job at the Day Hospice but their Hospice At Home Service really made an impression on me.  As well as generating funds, our Biggest Loser competition will foster a healthy start to 2017 and create a cheerfully competitive buzz within the office.”

Over the coming weeks, Maziak staff will be visiting the Day Hospice facility to get a real sense of how funds raised will make a difference. At the same time the calendar of activities for fundraising is being finalised and the target for the year will then be announced to give the partnership real focus.
