N2 Gas System Upgrade Delivers ‘Un-circuitous’ Route to Cost Savings

This customer has provided services to the international electronics industry for over 40 years, with a manufacturing presence in the UK for over 30 years. They pride themselves on their cutting edge, high quality and competitive printed circuit board (PCB) assembly services. As a leading provider of electronic solutions for brand name original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), they provide their customers with the capabilities and purchasing power of a global electronics manufacturing company, while delivering a regional and personalised service. 

With a focus on continuing investment in equipment and technology, to enable them to deliver quality results to customers, a new selective soldering machine was purchased. The process requires high purity Nitrogen (N2), an inert pure gas, to prevent product oxidisation and the existing Pillargen nitrogen generator was old, unreliable and could not provide the volume of gas required for the new machinery.

Maziak were able to provide a gas generation solution with an attractive payback on investment and some considerable enhancements to their operation. We installed an N2-25PALY Parker Nitrogen Generator rated @12.5m³/h @7.8 bar(g), purity > 99.995% (50ppm).  A new dedicated air compressor was required to run the nitrogen generator. 

Not only are they now benefitting from reduced cost, improved safety and increased reliability, but the new system can deliver enough Nitrogen generation capacity for future expansion. This would not have been possible with their existing equipment.
